Get ready for a tasteful fiesta! Uncle Julio’s award-winning restaurant will debut in the spring 2009 in Boca Raton, Florida. Floridians can then experience the authentic border style flavor that Texans, and Uncle Julio’s fans in Chicago, Atlanta and the D.C. area, have enjoyed for years. The restaurant will be located in Mizner Park, known for great restaurants, shopping, music and art.
Named one of the “Top 50 Restaurants” for 11 years by the Washington Post and “Top 75 Mexican Restaurants in Texas” by Texas Monthly magazine, Uncle Julio’s will lure Floridians with the aroma of smoky grilled fajitas, sizzling shrimp brochettes and full flavored, freshly picked ingredients in roasted vegetable tamales.
The Boca Raton, Florida Uncle Julio's will feature the same combination of Mexican cooking expertise and fresh Texas ingredients as other Uncle Julio’s, which serve a style of food based on America's oldest regional cuisine. Uncle Julio's stays loyal to its heritage by offering high-quality food that mirrors the original fare cooked by cowboys on the plains more than a century ago.
Located just blocks from the beach in prestigious Mizner Park, the restaurant will offer the most outdoor dining and bar space of any Uncle Julio’s location. An outdoor bar patio and dining patio will make any visit to Uncle Julio’s a refreshing experience.
In addition to serving lunch and dinner daily, and weekend brunch, the Boca Raton location will also cater home and office parties -- serving fresh, mesquite grilled favorites cooked on-site.
Specialties at Uncle Julio's include Fajitas al Carbon; Camarones Brochette (bacon-wrapped jumbo shrimp stuffed with Monterrey Jack cheese and jalapenos); Quail a la Parilla, mesquite grilled to perfection; and the Swirl margarita, Uncle Julio’s signature cocktail of frozen margarita layered with homemade frozen sangria. The menu also includes heart-healthy entrees like Mesquite Grilled Salmon Filet, as well as special items for children.
Miami native Jay Wolfson, a 10-year employee and general manager of Uncle Julio’s in North Dallas, has been named general manager of the new Florida location. He will relocate from Dallas to Boca Raton later this fall to oversee restaurant construction and the opening.
"We are pleased to introduce border-style dining to residents of Boca Raton,” said Todd Conger, president and chief operating officer of Uncle Julio’s. “We think the area is a good match for our special blend of food and fun.”
“Uncle Julio’s will add to the already diverse mix of restaurants at Mizner Park, providing a festive environment for our guests to enjoy outstanding Mexican cuisine,” said Beth Hendrick, Mizner Park associate manager, marketing.
The first Uncle Julio’s opened in Dallas in 1986. With the October 2008 opening in Allen, Texas, and the spring opening in Boca Raton, Uncle Julio’s Corporation will operate 14 restaurants in five major metropolitan areas: Dallas, Fort Worth, Chicago, Atlanta, Boca Raton and the Washington, DC, area. Uncle Julio's provides the freshest and highest quality border style Mexican food in large, reasonably priced portions. The company’s mission, creating hospitality, fun and value, shows in everything from the food to the atmosphere.
