Amazon Fresh Uptown Boca
Amazon Fresh sets its sights to the Southeast Florida corridor and plans on opening their first store inside west Boca Raton’s hottest new high-end mixed-use residential and shopping center, Uptown Boca. This is west Boca Raton’s newest development in years! It will truly have a local’s vibe by having the 456 Uptown Boca Residence apartments that range from 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms in the same Uptown Boca Community.
This Amazon Fresh location is the first to be announced for the southeastern United States, a new grocery chain slated for a nationwide rollout. Currently, only two states have Fresh stores, and they are in California and Illinois. So, this is huge for Florida! Given Amazon’s dominance in the retail market, the new chain is expected to be a tough competitor in the battle for grocery store customers that currently are loyal to Publix, the big grocery chain in Florida.
Since this grocery store concept is totally brand new to Florida, let us answer some of the Frequently Asked Questions that you will be wanting to know before you visit the Amazon Fresh Uptown Boca location in Boca Raton, Florida.
First what is the big deal? Well, Amazon says they have designed it from the ground up and will offer a seamless grocery shopping experience whether you like to shop online or in-store. The biggest benefit for Prime Member is the same day FREE delivery service that is being offered.
What you will be able to buy at Amazon Fresh in Boca Raton? Of course, you will see the typical items you would at any other grocery store, including the national brands, produce, meat and seafood as well as prepared foods made in store every day.

My favorite are the Alexa locations that you can ask where items are in the store. This will be everyone’s time saver! You can also ask Alexa food facts and the perfect wine-cheese pairings simply by asking Alexa at any of the blue Alexa kiosks that will be located throughout the store. Alexa, how much more time can you save me grocery shopping? I am working on it…BocaRaton.com!
Let us talk a little more about the Dash Cart because this will be new for everyone here in south Florida. Think of it as a ‘Smart Shopping Cart’ that will allow you to skip the checkout lines. You simply sign in-to the cart using a QR code on your Amazon App, place your bags in the cart and start shopping. When you are ready to leave all you need to do is exit through one of the store’s Dash Cart lanes. We are not going to get into the technical aspects of how all of it works. Amazon says that they have worked out all of the kinks they had at the beginning and it has been tested and you will not be getting any free items on your bill when you leave.
Now, you are probably asking by now, how much money can I save by shopping at Amazon Fresh right? Good question! Some fun facts about grocery stores and the competition.
It must be said that this could certainly put a sizeable crack in the $800 billion U.S. grocery industry and surely the likes of Walmart and other tech start-ups like AiFi and Grabango are quickly jumping into the game with Amazon. Walmart’s wholesale division in Dallas opened a store called Sam’s Club Now and both 7-Eleven at their corporate headquarters in Irving, TX and Kroger is teaming up with Microsoft to capture the cashierless store space. It looks like grocery shopping will soon start to be autonomous just as we now have autonomous vehicles.
Let us not forget, Amazon acquired Whole Foods Market back in 2017 for $13.7 billion. That’s only four short years ago. It seems that Amazon wants to expand upon this move and tap into the paltry 3% of groceries that are ordered over the internet today. This percentage could balloon if Amazon continues its reach into the Southeast region of the United States. And, with their Boca Raton’s location sitting on prime real estate that sits close to a very concentrated intersection just east of the busy State Road 7 (441) and Glades Road intersection. Uptown Boca is on the side of Glades Road between the first and second traffic lights going east from 441.
