2007 VALOR AWARDS:
NORTH MIAMI, Fla. - Rick Shaw has ruled the airwaves for over 40 years and his statistics are record breaking! He has entertained radio listeners longer than any DJ in the South Florida market. Last Friday marked the end of an era for 102.7 where Shaw has worked.
Shaw's career started on accident at a small radio station when a news anchor called in sick. From that moment on, Shaw has been on the airwaves entertaining us all. His co-workers feel as if he was breaking up with them! The phone lines at 102.7 lit up after the announcement, with tearful listeners calling in to express their thanks.
Shaw said filling the hearts of his listeners has been what has kept him on the air for so long. He dedicated his career to the listeners. Shaw's signoff song was "Goodnight My Love" and for the last time he was heard saying " One more time I say thank you, God bless you and goodbye".
