Allianz Championship tournament took place on February 4th-10th, 2008 at The Old Course at Broken Sound. Bringing the legendary champions of golf to Boca Raton for a celebrated week-long PGA Champions Tour tournament, the Allianz Championship hosted a variety of events that was driving all net proceeds to Boca Raton Community Hospital. The Allianz Championship Tournament players included a long roster of golf legends such as Gary Player, Nick Price, Tom Kite, Lee Trevino, Jay Haas, Bernhard Langer, Dana Quigley, Loren Roberts, Fuzzy Zoeller, Andy Bean, Chip Beck, John Harris, Hale Irwin and Tom Purtzer.
The Allianz Championship increased the Champions Tour’s early-season Florida swing to three tournaments with the Golf Channel televising live all three rounds of the championship from The Old Course at Broken Sound Club. The purse will be $1.65 million in 2008, escalating $50,000 the following year. Events included a Junior Pro-Am & Pro Skills Challenge and the Championship Pro-Am, followed by the televised 54-hole competition.

2:30 p.m. -- Boca Raton Community Hospital Pro Skills Challenge on the 18th green-Pros and participants boast their golf skills in attempting difficult shots around the green.

About Broken Sound Club
Broken Sound is considered one of the premier golf course communities in Palm Beach County, FL. It features resort-style, country club living in 27 private villages and has 23 tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness/spa center, aquatic area, dining facilities and two of the finest golf courses in south Florida. The original Broken Sound Club, now affectionately known as the “Old Course”, was founded in 1978 and designed by Joe Lee. It will host the Allianz Championship. Gene Bates completed a redesign of the Old Course in January 2004. Sponsored by Woolbright Development, Inc., which is returning as a second year tournament sponsor with more than a 100% increase in participation level, this exciting partnership between the hospital and Woolbright Development will support the hospital’s community outreach mission of providing quality healthcare to the community it serves. Inside the Woolbright Wellness Center, medical, nursing and healthcare personnel will provide health screenings for blood pressure and BMI. In addition, the Wellness Center will feature health information on a wide variety of topics ranging from breast and skin cancer awareness to nutrition information, and exercise demonstrations.
