Boca Raton’s Sophisticated Take on Casual Italian Dining
Chef Mennan Tekeli flavorful cuisine has been lauded by critics for years. As the former Executive Chef for Dennis Max restaurants, and the Corporate Executive Chef for Prezzo International, Tekeli knows how to tempt the taste buds of South Florida’s most discriminating gourmands. With the creation of Ovenella in Boca Raton he brings the perfect mélange of tastes, crafting a diverse menu that features his signature interpretations of classic Italian dishes, artisan pizzas, distinctive salads and more.
Ovenella, occupies a prime downtown Boca Raton location, on Federal Highway, and brings a new sense of style and vibrancy to the area. The total transformation of the venue is garnering “wows” as patrons are impressed by the chic modern architectural style, while being enveloped by the warmth and comfort that the design also infuses.
“We wanted to create a special ambiance that gives our guests the feel of “night out” experience, while also offering the casual comforts of a menu that indulges all of their culinary desires. From a satisfying Lasagna Verdura to the sophisticated Espresso and Peppercorn Grilled Beef Tenderloin, our menu pleases a variety of culinary moods,” says owner Ferraretto Davila.
The “night-out” feel of the locale is enhanced by the center-stage bar. Ardent with temptation, the cocktails the guests are imbibing are true works-of-art. Using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, the mixologists eschew bottled mixes and instead opt to squeeze all the fruits and hand cut the herbs and garnishes. Some of the signature sensations are the Peach Julep, Bacon Maple Old Fashioned, Blueberry-Acai Mojito, Cucumber Mint Martini and more.
The creator of this unique menu is well-known sommelier Coleman Leitch, who has worked as the wine and beverage manager for celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsey and Norman Van Aken.
“At Ovenella we are bringing a true New York mixology style to town,” Leitch explains. “It is a blend of classic, vintage drinks along with a modern and innovative approach to fresh and seasonal creations.”
Trend wise, Leitch is seeing a move away from the vodka-based cocktails and revival of gin, rye, and scotch. “This is what is happening in New York currently,” he says. “And our patrons are enjoying the contemporary twist.”
Also in the spirit of New York, are their pizzas. Artisan in style, the chef has created an array of flavorful selections; all crafted with the finest Caputo 00 flour, handmade cheeses, and fresh sauces, then brought to perfection in wood fire oven that burns white oak.
