Interior Designer Deb Chod
BOCA RATON, Fla. — When an owner wants to move into a new home quickly, it can be challenging for an interior designer to finish the decor in time. But Interior Designer Deb Chod, ASID, of Robb & Stucky Interiors in Boca Raton, plans to complete the entire interior of a five-bedroom waterfront home in Delray Beach so her client can be living there by December. “Because Robb & Stucky has such a large inventory, I’m able to find everything I need in stock,” she says. “The company’s vast resources allow me to do a beautiful design from the showroom floor in a short period of time.”
The home had already been painted inside and out when Chod received the assignment. The exterior is yellow, because the owners wanted a true Caribbean look. Interior walls are soft blues and greens. “I’ll be adding some faux work to provide definition and movement,” Chod says.
Area rugs in soft tones will accent marble and hardwood floors. Furnishings will be British Colonial in style.
The first-floor master suite will feature a dramatic four-poster bed, a large Ralph Lauren chair, and an entertainment center. In the breakfast room, eight colorful chairs upholstered in blue, green and yellow will surround a circular, wood-topped table with an iron base. A dark-finished desk, a studded leather chair and sepia artwork will give a masculine feel to the study.
Upstairs, Chod is designing a children’s loft with beautiful yet durable furnishings, including a wood-slated table, a sleeper sofa, occasional chairs, a flat-screen TV and a computer area. The four upstairs bedrooms will showcase a new Robb & Stucky line of hand-painted pieces, as well as wicker and bamboo.
Colorful patio and balcony furniture on both floors will coordinate with the home’s interior. A mix of seating will provide a “collected” look.
“It’s a beautiful home, and the project is exciting,” Chod says. “When a client needs quick results like this one does, Robb & Stucky is a tremendous resource.”

“This setting is a chef’s dream,” says Mailloux. “It’s an opportunity to be creative, and also to help people learn more about food, which is certainly one of the joys of life. Whether it’s someone who wants to learn basic techniques or an avid home cook who enjoys preparing more complex dishes, we’ll have classes to help. Our guests will be able to take the recipes home so they can duplicate them in their own kitchens.” The culinary center also hosts fabulous tasting and dining events for a unique social outing.

Mailloux has served as chef at top country clubs, inns and restaurants around the U.S. and in the Caribbean. He enjoys sharing his talents and expertise with home cooking enthusiasts, and wants to demystify the process of preparing delicious, attractive fare. Classes and other events at the culinary center involve plenty of personal interaction between the chef and his guests. “Preparing good food is easy, but people think cooking is an intimidating process,” Mailloux says. “They shouldn’t be afraid to try new recipes, and that’s what I try to show them.”
For Mailloux, grocery shopping is a treasure hunt. He enjoys exploring local markets, searching for the freshest, finest ingredients. “I often don’t know what I’m in the mood for until I see it,” he says. “When I see fabulous produce or wonderful meats and seafood, I want to take them and work with him. Here in Palm Beach County, we have some excellent local growers and small markets offering unique items, I want to share that adventurous culinary enthusiasm with our guests.”
Mailloux is excited about his work at the culinary center, and has planned a full calendar of events. “I want to show people what they can do at home,” he says. “It’s easy to take food to a higher level. We have everything they need to do it. Robb & Stucky Patio features an extensive selection of KitchenAid grills and a wide variety of appliances. The theme for the showroom resolves around home entertaining and in Florida we often gather in the kitchen and outdoor living area to enjoy food with family and friends. ”

ROBB & STUCKY DESIGN CONSULTANT
ROSEMARY BELLINGER RECEIVES
COMMISSION IN PALM BEACH

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Classic elegance and relaxed tropical flair meet in a unique décor by Rosemary Bellinger, a design consultant at Robb & Stucky Interiors in Palm Beach Gardens. Bellinger created the innovatively eclectic design for a 4,500-square-foot oceanfront home in Palm Beach.
The couple, who have several homes in various parts of the world, chose Bellinger to design the interior of their newest residence after the wife met her during a visit to the Robb & Stucky showroom. While the homeowner had planned to simply take a second look at a table she had seen earlier, Bellinger escorted her through the showroom while inquiring about her tastes and encouraging her to point out pieces that intrigued her. Weaving together words and ideas, Bellinger created a vision, and her client asked her to transform it into reality.
The design integrates Asian and South Pacific styles with British Colonial accents. In the living room, a paradox of primitive and refined sophistication includes abundant silk Shantung draperies tied back with simple pieces of cord, while elegant, imported silk fabric hangs from natural, unfinished bamboo poles in the dining room.
In the library, ceiling coffers reflect Asian-style geometric shapes, while different kinds of grass cloths cover the walls. Hyacinth sea grass swivel tub chairs surround a wok-inspired coffee table, and linen fabric with an African motif adorns the windows. Crown moldings in the dining room are faux-finished to resemble bamboo.
In the master bedroom, an abundance of sheer fabric creates a romantic curtain surrounding a canopy bed dressed in pure white. Bamboo elements add a contrasting earthy feel. “This project is an especially creative one, because the client is very open to fresh ideas and innovative combinations,” Bellinger said. “The couple wants a home that is truly unique and one-of-a-kind, and that’s exactly what they will have. Since they have other residences in different parts of the world, they are confident in their own style and already know what pleases them. Working with them is a wonderful adventure.”

ROBB & STUCKY DESIGNER VICKI BAUER
COMMISSIONED FOR HOME IN MIRASOL

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—Vicki Bauer, a design consultant with Robb & Stucky Interiors in Palm Beach Gardens, has been commissioned to design the interior of a 3,700-square-foot, single-family home in Mirasol.
Bauer created a transitional decor featuring cheerful reds, yellows, and greens for the owners, who are a retired couple moving from Buffalo, N.Y. “They wanted their home to be very bright and happy,” Bauer said.
The wife is a petite five feet tall. One challenge was finding furniture on a scale that didn’t overwhelm her, yet balanced with the expansive architecture of the home. For the family room, Bauer invited her client to sit on a Hickory Chair sofa on display in the Robb & Stucky showroom. “I was able to fit the sofa to her, and then custom upholster it with the gold and yellow colors in the palette she had chosen,” Bauer noted. “At Robb & Stucky, my clients can actually see and touch the furnishings before they purchase them, yet they can also customize if they wish.”
Two swivel chairs in the family room feature a cheerful red pattern. A third chair has a wood frame with a woven wicker back, and red upholstery patterned with palm trees. For window treatments in both the family room and master bedroom, Bauer chose Skyline™ Gliding Window Panels from Hunter Douglas, sheer-weave fabric that offers protection from the sun, yet allows different light exposures ranging from transparent to opaque.
In the kitchen, Bauer accommodated her client’s petite stature by lowering the island from 42 inches to the same 36-inch height as the counters. A Quarella composite counter top provides the beauty of natural stone with increased durability. Black stools with red upholstered cushions add drama to the space. The home will become the owners’ primary residence.

ROBB & STUCKY DESIGNER COLIN COVELL
IS COMMISSIONED FOR SINGER ISLAND RESIDENCE

COLIN COVELL
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—Colin Covell, ASID, a design consultant at Robb & Stucky Interiors in Palm Beach Gardens, has been commissioned to design the interior of a 3,200-square-foot condominium at The Resort at Singer Island being developed by WCI Communities.
The residence showcases the owner’s collection of valuable works of art, and includes a 35-foot-long gallery. Flooring throughout the residence is a rare, creamy osso marble with dark pattern inserts. In the living room, an accent wall of dark brown Venetian plaster provides balance for the expansive windows, which are dressed with creamy, embroidered sheers. Furniture placed on the diagonal opens up the space and makes the most of the ocean view. A crystal chandelier above the cocktail table provides an unexpected touch.
The homeowner had a circa-1970s glass and Lucite dining table, which Covell paired with upholstered barrel chairs. In keeping with the retro-inspired theme, Covell installed track lighting in the ceiling, rather than a traditional chandelier, to illuminate space. The library features dark-colored, grass cloth wall coverings, a hand-scraped dark wood floor, and custom built-ins. A Chesterfield sleeper sofa allows the space to double as a guest room.
“Because the client’s artwork is so magnificent, it is important for the interior of the residence to provide a perfect setting for it,” Covell said. “It was very exciting to create a décor that does justice to the collection, yet still feels like a home and not a museum.”

ROBB & STUCKY PATIO OPENS IN BOCA RATON

Steve Bishop is General Manager of Robb & Stucky Patio located at 906 North Federal Highway in Boca Raton.
BOCA RATON, Fla. — Just in time for summer, Robb & Stucky Patio has opened in Boca Raton. The new, 20,000-square-foot, two-story showroom offers the latest furnishings, accessories and lighting to enhance outdoor living areas, and Robb & Stucky design professionals are available to help with space planning.
Today’s outdoor furnishings are as beautiful as those for inside, said Steven Bishop, general manager of the new Robb & Stucky Patio. “In South Florida, the patio is a very important living space because we spend a great deal of time outdoors all year 'round,” he noted. “In many homes, when you walk in the front door you look straight through the interior to the patio outside, so it’s also very visible. It makes sense to have outdoor furnishings that are as high in quality and as beautiful as those you have inside.”
Today’s durable outdoor fabrics have the stylish look and soft feel of those designed for interiors, yet they are weather-resistant and easy to maintain. Cast or extruded aluminum never rusts and can be cleaned with a hose. All-weather wicker, which is really woven resin, looks like the real thing, yet it holds up to sun and rain. “For those who want it, we have traditional wicker as well,” Bishop added. “And people who appreciate the look and feel of wood will love our teak collection.”
Deep-seating sofas, sectionals and chairs can create comfortable conversation areas. “It used to be that there were just a few upholstery fabrics to choose from,” Bishop said. “Now there are more than 100, and you can find colors and patterns that blend with your interior.”
Just as they do indoors, people often choose neutral hues for sofas and chairs, and add color to the décor with throw pillows. “Of course, you never have to worry about either the outdoor furniture or the pillows getting ruined when it rains,” Bishop remarked.
Rugs that look as if they would be at home in the living room add coziness outside. Outdoor lamps provide light for reading and ambience. “We also have all kinds of accessories, such as clocks and even artwork, to pull your outdoor room together,” Bishop noted.
Outdoor dining sets have also changed. “Just a few years ago, you saw mostly glass-topped tables,” Bishop said. “They’re still available, of course, but more people now are opting for decorative tabletops made of cast aluminum. Another choice is round pedestal tables with stone tops. These pieces are heavy enough so you usually don’t have to bring them inside even if a hurricane threatens.”
For homeowners who have small balconies rather than large patios, there are beautiful bistro sets. “No matter what size outdoor space you’re trying to furnish, we have something that will be just right,” Bishop said.

ROBB & STUCKY PRESS RELEASE INFORMATION:
DESIGNER GEORGIA MERTEN ACCEPTS VARIED COMMISSIONS

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. —Georgia Merten, ASID, recently joined the new Robb & Stucky Interiors showroom in Palm Beach Gardens and has already accepted several commissions to design interiors for both luxury condominiums and single-family homes.
Merten is a graduate of the University of Virginia who began her professional life as a women’s apparel buyer for a major department store. Later, she decided to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming an interior designer and earned a degree at Palm Beach Community College.
She is currently designing the interior of a $3-million condominium at 2700 North Ocean. She used a color palette of platinum and sea foam with touches of melon and berry to create a casually elegant, tropical look. In the foyer, custom niches house artwork from the owners’ collection. Decorative white molding gives definition to main living spaces, and marble columns in the dining room add a formal touch. Dropped sofits provide lighting around the perimeters of rooms, and recessed gimbaled fixtures can be turned downward or toward the wall to highlight artwork.
Other commissions the Robb & Stucky interior designer is working on are the interiors of two luxury condominiums with transitional decors at The Landmark in Palm Beach Gardens. For one of the residences, she chose a dramatic color palette of grays, taupes and browns. The other will be done in hues of sand and sea foam. Floor medallions fashioned from tumbled marble and granite make an entry statement in the foyer.
Additional current commissions include single-family homes at Orchid Island in Vero Beach; Seminole Landing and Pasaos at Abacoa, both in Jupiter; and Ballin Isles in Palm Beach Gardens.

ANTIQUE LUTES BECOME DESIGN FOCAL POINT
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—Debra Griffith and Beverly Perlin have joined the design staff at the newly opened Robb & Stucky Interiors showroom in Palm Beach Gardens.
The two designers recently accepted a commission for a Heritage Oaks home in which a collection of antique lutes became a focal point. To create immediate visual drama, the designers artfully displayed the unique collection of stringed instruments on the walls of the large foyer in the Heritage Oaks home. A grand piano in the same area continues the musical theme. Throughout the interior, a color palette of burnished gold, silver, bronze and pewter combined with soft champagne and pale sage creates a sophisticated, urbane ambiance in the modern classic décor.
Griffith and Perlin are also designing the interior of a home at Mirasol Country Club. The owners relocated recently from the Northeast, and chose to incorporate some traditional furnishings they already owned into the new décor. Because the family has young children, the designers wanted to create a cheerful look and make the home very livable.
Wood-grain molding in the main areas tie together the existing traditional pieces with new furnishings. A fresh, modern color scheme of creams accented with sapphire and fire-engine red also enhances the design theme. Woven microfiber fabrics look luxurious, yet are durable and child-friendly.

DIANE PARISIAN, ASID, JOINS ROBB & STUCKY INTERIORS IN PALM BEACH GARDENS
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Interior designer Diane Parisian, ASID, recently joined the staff at the new Robb & Stucky Interiors showroom in Palm Beach Gardens. She has more than 20 years of experience in high-end residential, hospitality, and commercial interior design.
Parisian recently accepted a commission to design the interior of a 4,000-square-foot luxury condominium in Oasis for Palm Beach County developer Dan Catalfumo and his wife Susan. After the decorating is complete, the Catalfumos will offer the residence for sale.
“When the owners plan to sell a home, it’s important to complete the project as quickly as possible,” Parisian said. “That’s one reason the Catalfumos came to us at Robb & Stucky. They know we are capable of fast turnarounds.
“With our team of professionals, CAD capabilities, and a huge inventory of quality furnishings in our showrooms, we can complete the design of an entire residence in a matter of days rather than months,” she added.
Parisian chose to create a soft, contemporary look. “I wanted it to be clean and modern, yet chic and elegant, and not over-accessorized,” she said.
Using a color palette of spice tones like ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom combined with rich chocolate, clear ivory, and light camel, Parisian built defining character into the overall décor with varied textures. The highly polished surfaces of crema marfil, marble floors and lacquered kitchen cabinets contrast with the tactile sensuality of burled wall paneling, nubby silks, velvety suedes, and woven grasses. A blond maple ceiling inset creates visual impact in the foyer.
“Because the owners plan to sell the residence, I wanted the décor to have wide appeal,” Parisian said. “Yet it also had to have an eye-stopping quality to stand out from other properties that might be for sale.”
