BOCA HOLIDAY LIGHT SHOW

Boca Raton Lights Up Downtown

CITY OF BOCA RATON LIGHTS UP DOWNTOWN WITH THE “GREENEST, BRIGHTEST” MUSIC N’MOTION HOLIDAY CELEBRATION OF ALL

More than 75,000 LED Lights Will Illuminate Downtown and Enchant With Magical Holiday Light Shows At Royal Palm Place, Sanborn Square, Mizner Park With Trolley Tours of Winter Wonderland

An exciting, vibrant and environmentally-friendly LED Winter Wonderland of musical light shows will illuminate Downtown Boca Raton to delight residents, visitors, shoppers and diners of all ages this holiday season. More than 75,000 energy efficient LED lights will illuminate ten GIANT snowflakes, nine 10-foot animated iTREE’s, 72” whirling wreaths, animated “snowball fight,” and two color-changing clock towers. All will be synchronized to holiday music in all genres (Jazz, Rock N’ Roll and Traditional) for which drivers and onlookers can tune-in to FM 88.7 for added holiday cheer. Automated musical light show components will be showcased from the Royal Palm Place’s Mizner Monument, through the pathway to Palmetto Place Road, including Sanborn Square, to Mizner Park, with an elaborate multi-color light show on the Center for the Arts clock tower.

To enjoy the full show while learning a bit of history of downtown Boca Raton, residents and guests can hop on Molly’s Trolley at Sanborn Square that night, beginning at 6 p.m., as author and historian Sally Ling narrates a tour that includes Sanborn Square, Royal Palm Place, Boca Raton Resort & Club, from A1A to Palmetto Park Road, Children’s Museum and City Hall which that night will feature entertainment at several locations along the trolley route.

Boca Raton Lights Up Downtown

Friday, December 4, 2009; Sanborn Square; 6 p.m.
City of Boca Raton CRA invites everyone to Sanborn Square to kick off the holidays. Chairman Constance Scott will to “flip the switch” on the light show and illuminate downtown Boca. The official lighting celebration at Sanborn Square will include food, magicians, jugglers, and arts and crafts for the kids. Molly’s Trolley tours run on “Meet Me Downtown” Friday evenings, December 4, 11, and 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

City of Boca Raton To Lead The Way To a GREENER Holiday Season
· City’s approach to its downtown holiday celebration this year meant being ‘bright’ on several accounts: the illuminating brightness of the city’s downtown assets, the responsible brightness of doing it GREEN, and the brightness of Music N’ Motion to choose Boca Raton to showcase its GREEN technology brightness as a sponsor. With a continuous series of city presented holiday activities and events planned throughout December and early January, downtown is expected to be a bustling city center filled with activity and memories for those of all ages.

· All the illumination “brightness” will be powered by Music N' Motion LED lights that save up to 90% on power consumption and are virtually indestructible in plastic lenses, not glass. The entire light and music display will run on one 20 amp breaker…which is about the same power consumption as running one’s household clothes dryer!

· In addition, Music N' Motion lighting controllers use plastic made from potato starch rather than petroleum products which are not biodegradable and will be around for centuries. Switching to this innovative material allows for a compostable material that causes no harm to our environment. The wireless communication between each Music N' Motion iNTELI-CORE (Main Brain) saves thousands of feet of extension cords meaning that less materials are used, better for the environment.
