The Southern Florida Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) recently announced the finalists for its 2008 Man & Woman of the Year competition, in which winners are named based on the number of “votes” they receive. Every dollar raised counts as a “vote.” Finalists include:

Winners of the competition will be announced at the Man & Woman of the Year Journey of Hope Gala at 6:30 p.m. on May 9 at The Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six, 2301 Southeast 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are $150 per person and a table of ten costs $1,000. Sponsorships also are available. The ticket price includes open bar underwritten by Premier Beverage and Glenfiddich, dinner, live and silent auction and entertainment.

Winners of the 2008 Man & Woman of the Year will be entered into the LLS National Man & Woman of the Year competition. Candidates compete in honor of the LLS Boy & Girl of the Year, local children who are survivors of blood cancers and who are sources of inspiration.
The money raised by candidates over a ten-week period is used by LLS to fund research seeking cures and better therapies, and to provide information and support so that patients have the best possible outcomes throughout their cancer experience.
